Hello Loves,
Happy Tuesday! I hope your week is off to a great start. I wanted to write tonight to tell you about some products that I was gifted recently. I probably know what you’re thinking, another blogger about to tell me how obsessed they are with a product and how I can’t go another day without it in my life blah blah blah. Well, that is exactly the opposite of what I’m about to tell you.
As I consider myself a real modern woman and want to use this platform to speak to other modern women, I want to keep it 100 with all of you. Instead of proclaiming fake love just because I was gifted some things doesn’t make me a blogger, that would make me a fake and I like to think I am anything but. I want to test out products so you essentially don’t have to and don’t waste your hard earned money and if I genuinely love them, well then that’s fantastic and I will shout it from the rooftop, but if I am not a fan, well then you will know.
Growing up, I usually downed my vibrantly natural curly hair. It was frizzy and often times a mess. I hated it and wanted nothing more than to have naturally straight hair. I envied those girls all throughout grade school, sometimes even to the point of tears. I was ashamed, but my mom told me one day I’d be thankful for my curls. Today is that day. I love having the versatility of curly hair. I love feeling free when I wear my hair in its natural state. It’s like putting on a new sweater or trying a new accessory. It adds different levels and aesthetics to your outfit. When I was notified that I’d be receiving some products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes and that all of the products were supposed to help maintain my curls, I was ecstatic. It wasn’t until I tested them that I was disappointed.
Courtesy of All About Curls, I received samples sizes of their Bouncy Cream, High Definition Gel, No-Lather Cleanser and Daily Cream Conditioner. I will say that I have tried all four of these products. Not all are terrible, but also not my favorite. I have provided my honest review of all four products below. I’m interested in knowing, have you ever been gifted or bought a product that ended up being a disappointment? Comment below as I’d love to know!
Bouncy Cream:

Let’s start on a positive note. Out of all the products I received, this one is hands down my favorite. The best part is that a little can go a long way. I loved that it made my hair feel hydrated. Whether I wore my hair naturally curly or styled it with curls, I would add a dime size amount in my hair and brush it through with my fingers from mid-length to my ends, NOT at my root. In my opinion, this stuff is way too heavy to put on your scalp. It will make it feel oily and your hair will feel greasy the next day, perhaps even that afternoon. This is the one product I would consider purchasing on my own.
High Definition Gel:

In general, I am already not a huge proponent for gel products. It makes me think of that time in middle school where we all used too much gel and our hair ended up crunchy. This gel was fine. I personally used it right when I got out of the shower on my wet hair. After my natural curls air dried, I did think my hair felt a little stiff. It wasn’t a desirable consistency to the touch. I think next time I would forego the gel entirely.
No-Lather Cleanser:

I’m sorry but this was my least favorite from the bunch. I will give this product the stamp of approval in that it is a “clean” shampoo. No sulfates, silicones or parabens (in any of these products actually) and that is a win in my book. Where this product lacked for me was in the “no-lather” department. After using it in the shower, it literally didn’t lather. I personally like lather products because to me that means my hair is clean. Then I used it again and still no later. After the third time of using it in the shower, still no lather, my hair still felt like it was not clean. When I went to go style my hair after the shower, it felt heavy and already greasy. This may be one of those shampoos that you have to seriously train your hair on, but for me, it was a hard no.
Daily Cream Conditioner:

This conditioner did exactly what it needed to do. It thoroughly conditioned my hair and made it feel very moisturized. The issue I had with this product is that, in combination with the no-lather cleanser, it made my hair super weighed down. Perhaps if I were to use this with a different shampoo, I would really like it, but I still don’t think it’d be the first conditioner I would reach for on the shelf. I did like the consistency and how thick it was. I think this product would be best used 1 maybe 2 times a week just for an extra moisture boost.
I hope this helps if these products were on your radar. I don’t mean to totally bash these hair products and I am so thankful that I was chosen to test them out, but my mission is to be open and honest with you and sometimes the truth isn’t always going to be great news. If you have any questions, please feel free to send me a note or comment on my latest Instagram post. Have a great night!
