National Lipstick Day

Hello National Day Lovers (This one is for you),

Another “National” Day is here, and my lips just couldn’t remain sealed! Happy National Lipstick Day! I have to admit that I have not always been into lipstick when it came to my everyday makeup routine. When I was younger, my mom would always have to remind me before I walked out of the door. I can hear her voice in my head now, “put something on your mouth.” I don’t know why I was so stubborn before and perhaps it came with age and a newfound professional career within the last year, but I wouldn’t dream of leaving the house without some sort of lip stain. It completes your entire look AND I think you appear way more put together. In honor of the national holiday, whether you are celebrating or not, I thought this would be a GREAT opportunity to showcase the three lip shades I am drooling over lately. All are linked with images of the actual product below.

P.S. I also got an email this morning from Ulta that they are having a huge National Lipstick Day sale on their site all day. Free full-size MAC lipstick with any $50 MAC purchase, Buy One Get One Free Mix and Match with a variety of brands, 50% Urban Decay, 2 for $20 Kylie Cosmetics, Buy Two Get One Free Clinique, 30% Lipstick Queen and so so many more deals. Check out the site here!

1. My go-to everyday lipstick: Kylie Cosmetics Velvet Liquid Lipstick in shade Bare. This liquid lipstick is EVERYTHING! It is the perfect shade of a pinky-nude and can be worn all day long, like literally. It stains your lips for a long-lasting plump for hours. Out to dinner, getting drinks, running errands or going to work? Use this lipstick because you will apply once in the morning and it will still be on by the time you get home at the end of the day. It’s my favorite because the color goes with my skin tone, I love that I only have to apply once a day and it comes with a lip liner pencil so you can slightly over line for the perfect, voluptuous lip for a price you can’t resist. I bought mine about 2 months ago and still have over half the tube left.

2.  For when I’m feeling sassy or a night out on the town, I always grab for my Revlon ColorBurst Matte Lip Balm in shade Unapologetic. The tubular shape makes this lipstick almost appear as an apple-red with a hint of orange crayon, you know the kind you can get in the big variety pack, which is perfect because it allows you to draw on your lips exactly how you wish. The hue of the color is completely dependent on you. Build it up to make it super dark and stand out or lightly apply for a more natural complexion. You also cannot beat the price for the quality. It’s only $8 (you can grab it at Walmart), lasts forever and comes in a million different shades.

3. My silent assassin shade, because I don’t think many people are as aware of this brand as the others, is my Lorac Alter Ego Lip Gloss in shade Granny. Odd name for such a sexy, highly-pigmented color which makes you feel like a new woman, perfect for the product name. I love this gloss because it’s super high quality, the applicator helps the gloss go on like butter and it nourishes throughout the wear stage. I will caveat that it does not stain the lip or stay on for hours, BUT that doesn’t bother me with this product, and I will reapply this stuff all day because that’s how good it is. The shade is a dark coral/pink and smells like Vanilla, which is a total added bonus. It’s so inexpensive on the Lorac website, and if this is not your color, the same gloss comes in a multitude of others.

Sincerely,
