Hi Babes,
Carrie Bradshaw said it best, “I like my money right where I can see it, hanging in my closet.” My shoes make up about 50% of my closet, so when I found out one of my favorite discount shoe retailers is going out of business, I had to bid adieu with one last farewell shopping spree.
Payless is the best. You could go in there needing new shoes for the new season and come out with exactly what you were looking for without breaking the bank. It was the place where options were endless, and prices were outstanding. My mom, who wears an 11W and has the most difficult time finding shoes that fit, guaranteed that when she went into Payless, she was going to be coming out not only with shoes that fit her feet but ones that were also on trend. My heart skipped a beat when they started carrying an exclusive line of Christian Siriano shoes and accessories. Not only were they fabulous, but I was so excited to support one of my all-time favorite designers. I remember being a little girl and always looking forward to going to Payless right before the school year started. I would sit on one of those mirrored benches and try on the ones that lit up, with sparkles, pink and black and thought it was the most magical place. Now, instead of walking into a Payless and reliving a whimsical memory, it will be a thing of the past. I guess all good things have to come to an end.
If you hadn’t already heard, Payless with be closing all of their stores soon and although I will be sobbing uncontrollably when that day comes, I went in to my local brick-and-mortar location the other day and stocked up for the Summer. It was the only logical way I could cope with this loss. With anywhere between 40-70% off all styles (everything must go kind of sale), I literally bought NINE pairs of new shoes for a whopping, are you ready for it, $130! That’s insane. After I got my receipt, I read that I actually saved over $160, which means I saved more than I actually spent. I didn’t pay over $23 for one pair of shoes and I got the biggest variety from casual to dressy pumps. If you live near a Payless and need some new shoes, you have to go before their doors close!
So this is my goodbye love note to Payless. Thank you for the memories and for supplying me with shoes I love at a discounted price. Your customer service was superior, and your options were overwhelming in the best way. Thank you for partnering with an artist such as Christian Siriano and allowing me to buy my first pair of “designer” shoes right as I started working my first full-time job. Stores fronts may fade, but my love for you will be endless. I sure will miss this place, so to encourage you to hop in your car and get your booty to Payless before it’s too late, here are the awesome pairs I recently bought:

Sincerely,
