5-Step Skincare Routine

Hi Friends,

Let’s talk about good skin! Are you aware of the fact that our skin is the largest organ, internal or external, in the human body? Taking ample care of our skin is a vital component in maintaining good overall health. So what you put on your skin is of the utmost importance. I was doing some research the other day and read that our skin cells take a full 28 days to regenerate themselves. That’s a little less than a full month that you should be sticking to a specific skincare routine for you to really experience visible, positive results. I have dreaded finding a skincare regime. Everyone else made it look so easy, but I could never find a product I liked, was completely overwhelmed by the selection out there and always fell off the wagon when it came to being religious about the every.single.day rule. Anyone else feel this struggle? I realized I was putting way too much pressure on myself to be like everyone else and decided to just take it one step at a time until I found what worked for me.

Fast forward to about a month ago when I came across this skincare line at Ulta called Elemis. The products smelled delicious, Ulta was promoting their new Super Food products at an end cap and the testers felt amazing on my skin. Before I decided to drop $100+ on a bunch of separate products, I felt it was best to test out the starter pack to see if I noticed a difference in my skin. A full month later, I can tell you, I am OBSESSED!

So, to make it super easy for all of you out there who are interested in a skincare routine you can stick to that promotes healthy skin but don’t know where to start, I have outlined my personal 5-step skincare routine and all of the products I have been using day and night including some good ones I have collected over the last couple of months. This 5-step process was inspired by my new Ulta finds and a beauty class I took on my cruise vacation last summer where a seasoned esthetician walked us through the steps you should be taking for healthy skin weekly and daily. Super random BUT I adapted what I learned to fit my personal needs, which you can do as well from this list.

*I will caveat that all skin is different and will react to products differently. If you are not sure if you should be using a product, consult a dermatologist before using. I am by no means a professional or a doctor. These are just the products I use daily and not necessarily the products you have to buy. I switch either some or all of my products pretty regularly.

Step 1: Cleanser

I like to use my Eclos Plant Stem Cells Facial Scrub in the morning to reactivate my skin and the Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm at night to wash away daily dirt and grime.

Step 2: Toner

My favorite toner to use in the morning is the Elemis Apricot Toner because the soothing citrus elements helps radiate your skin and then at night after I take my makeup off I use Son & Park Beauty Water to help balance my skins pH levels from the day’s exposure.

Step 3: Serum

You should always use Vitamin C in the morning to help awaken and brighten your skin, so I like Glossier’s Vitamin C Serum and then at night I use the Elemis Pro-Collagen Serum to make my skin nice and plump.

Step 4: Rose Quartz Roller

You may be surprised that my Step 4 isn’t an actual “product” BUT I had to put this as a step because using my Ulta Rose Quartz Roller over the last month has changed my skin drastically. I use it as part of my morning and night routine and it makes my skin feel tight, helps stimulate blood flow and reduces puffiness and black circles under my eyes. It’s a true game changer and should be a part of your every day routine if it isn’t already!

Step 5: Moisturizer

This one is super important for me because my skin suffers from severe dryness. I love using my Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream with SPF in the morning for a thick, creamy texture that will leave my skin soft all day and then I use the Garnier Ultra Lift Miracle Sleeping Cream at night. This Ultra Lift Cream honestly makes your skin feel like you just got Botox! It’s plumping, reduces wrinkles/fine lines and keeps the skin tight.

I have some additional products and steps that are a part of my skincare routine but that I don’t do daily. I also exfoliate between 2-3 times a week to just rub off any excess dead and dry skin and to vacuum out my pores. My favorite exfoliator right now is this Soley brand I found while I was in Iceland. It smells like mint, so my face feels like it got a total wakeup call after I use it. Whenever I’m feeling super stressed or need to take some extra time for my skin to rejuvenate, I LOVE doing face masks. My favorite face masks right now are the Glossier Moon Mask for deep moisture or the Summer Fridays R+R to just scrub into my pores.

Here are some of the products mentioned above as well as some products that I like to rotate into my routine every so often.

Hope you found this helpful! Please leave any products you use in the comments as I am always looking for new items that work great.

Sincerely,
