Rent the Runway Review

To My Other Busy Bees,

I am coming to you from my bed after what seemed like the longest day in the history of America. I woke up really early this morning and got downtown because the weather was so beautiful, I wanted to shoot a quick pic of this dress I got in from Rent the Runway before sending it back today. After work and beach volleyball, I am finally back home in my comfiest of clothes. Speaking of Rent the Runway, I know I teased a review of my Rent the Runway Membership and as promised here it is!

Last year around this time was the first year I truly had a lot of “adult” events to go to. I was traveling, starting a new job and was invited to a few weddings. I knew I needed some sort of solution to getting really great special occasion dresses and outfits at a price that wouldn’t run my wallet dry. That’s when I discovered Rent the Runway. For those who don’t know, Rent the Runway is an online service that provides designer clothing items and accessories catering to every special occasion in your life. Weddings, graduation, work, bridal showers, baby showers, Rent the Runway is or at least should be your go to rental service. At the standard plan, you can rent items out for a 4- or 8-day period for as low as 10% of the retail price with sizing ranging from 0 to 22 depending on the designer. If that doesn’t already sound like a dream, I dove even further and found the RTR Unlimited plan, which allows me to rent out 4 items at a time for a flat rate that is charged every month. For just $159 a month, I have the option to build my shipment from a wide array of choices from numerous designers, swap out my rentals at any time so I can continually change my wardrobe and RTR handles all of the things that we as consumers hate such as the shipping costs when you send items back and dry cleaning. You can cancel at any time, there is no minimum number of months you have to be a member for and can reinstate your membership any time you want.

After my craziness that was last year’s Summer, I actually did cancel my membership because I didn’t think I’d use it as much in the Fall and Winter months. It was super easy to cancel. All I had to do was send an email to their customer service and boom I was out of my monthly payment. Totally hassle free. Well my last year self would laugh in my face today because this Summer is even crazier. More traveling, bridal showers, bachelorette parties, weddings, work conferences, you name any kind of special event and I am going to it this Summer, so I thought it would be the perfect time to reinstate my Unlimited plan.

Think about it this way, why buy a $100 dress for just one event and then watch it collect dust in the back of your closet because you never wear it again when you can pay just slightly more and have endless options for the entire month. Not only has it upped my occasion wear, but this Summer I’m particularly excited to start upping my work wear as well. The one downside, just to keep it really real, is that the options on the website go fast, so I recommend that as soon as you wear something, and notice that one of the items you like is available, I would return the item you already wore and rent the next piece ASAP. You do have to wait until the item is returned to RTR before you can take another piece out, but they usually move things pretty quickly, at least from my personal experience. Now, after years of being strictly e-commerce, they even have brick and mortar locations in Chicago, New York, D.C, San Fran and Topanga where you can go in and physically try on the pieces before you rent them!

If you have any other questions about the membership or RTR itself, I would love to try to answer or point you in the right direction to get your questions answered. RTR has seriously been such a game changer for me and I’m so glad I don’t have to worry about the pressure and anxiety of going to multiple stores to find something to wear to every single gathering this Summer. Momma just aint got time for that! Hope this helps!

Here are some other Rent the Runway dresses I have worn in the past

Sincerely,
